New York City: From July 20 to 24, 2026, His Excellency Ung Sokoudom, Advisor to the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC), led the Ministry delegation to attend the 1st Plenary Meeting on the Global Mechanism on ICT Security in New York City, United States. The event convened member states responsible for ICT security to collaborate on building global cybersecurity capacity and fostering the practical implementation of agreed frameworks.

The meeting focused on addressing technical capacity gaps within institutions that leave developing countries vulnerable to cyber threats. Solving and closing these gaps is essential for safeguarding global security.

During the meeting, H.E. Ung Sokoudom emphasized that digital transformation and internet resilience—which drive effective socio-economic development—must rely on a highly secure digital foundation. He also highlighted Cambodia’s progress in drafting the Cybersecurity Law in consultation with UNIDIR, Canada, Australia, and ASEAN, among others. Furthermore, he reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to collaborating with UN Member States to ensure digital technology remains secure, effective, and inclusive.
