MPTC’s Annual Conference on 2014 Wrap-up and 2015 Work Plan

Phnom Penh, 1 April 2015-The Annual Conference wrapped-up and highlighted the accomplishments of 2014 in order to review and evaluate the possibilities, challenges, and constraints, H.E Minister Prak Sokhonn said at the opening ceremony.
“The Conference also paves the way for us to raise ideas and initiatives to find key solutions and ways forward particularly in the context of rapid changes in the sector of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information and Communications Technology,” he added.
In 2014 the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPTC) accomplished remarkable achievements including:

• Reorganized the structure of the MPTC in response to the integration of the National Information Communication Technology Development Authority (NiDA) into the Ministry, and established the National Institute of Posts, Telecommunication, and Information and Communication Technology (NIPTICT).
• Improved working conditions for officials and staff through encouragement, livelihood considerations, and promotions base on principles of transparency and accountability.
• Continued building and developing policy, strategies, regulations, and legal frameworks in order to strengthen management and advance the three sectors in accordance with international standards, and to extend service coverage throughout the country.
• Adjusted, strengthened, assigned, and allocated all duties and works of MPTC. 
• Established mechanisms and working groups to monitor and follow-up the implementation of the work plan.

After the presentation of H.E Sarak Khan, Secretary of State, on general situation of MPTC; interventions of line units; and recommendations of provincial Departments of Posts and Telecommunications (DPT), H.E Prak Sokhonn concluded that the conference has been performed smoothly and fruitfully.
“We reviewed the accomplishments of 2014 and identified key mechanisms and new strategic goals for 2015 to advance the three sectors, as well as how to contribute to boosting economic growth and people’s livelihoods in line with the fifth mandate policy of the Royal Government,” he said.
In his closing speech, he emphasized his strong belief that all officials and staff under MPTC and its development partners will actively continue their support to accomplish the plans outlined at the conference.
