Official Launch of Message and Location Management System for Covid-19 Information and Statistics
Phnom Penh, 30 July 2020, minister Vandeth Chea presided over the launching ceremony of the message and location management system for Covid-19 information and statistics, a joint project between ministry of post and telecommunications and ministry of health in an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. Present at the ceremony were MoH secretary of state Vandin Or, on behalf of minister Bunheng Mam, senior officials, officials and guests.
On this occasion, minister Chea stated that today’s achievement reflected the strong leadership of Samdach Techo Hun Sen, prime minister of Cambodia, in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic by utilizing all relevant measures, technology and local human resources. The minister added that the management system would be crucial for the general public, providing automatic voice messages to alert them of any suspicious Covid-19 contraction and to prompt them to observe any symptoms. Moreover, competent authorities would be able to identify any suspicious Covid-19 patients and receive pertinent information and data to trace any groups of individuals with possible contacts with the Covid-19 patients. Lastly, the management system would help alleviate the congestion of MoH’s 115 hotline and provide prompt and effective measures to stop the spread of Covid-19.
In his closing remark, minister Chea advised the working group from both ministries to polish and continue to improve the management system. The minister was optimistic this newly launched system would the MoH officials serving as the forefront of the government in effectively preventing the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
