Phnom Penh— On the afternoon of July 2, 2025, His Excellency Keo Sothie, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, presided over the closing ceremony of the National Workshop on the “Draft National Artificial Intelligence Strategy” and the official launch of the “Artificial Intelligence Readiness Assessment Report in Cambodia,” held at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel. The second day of the national workshop was continued with 15 group discussions, involving over 300 participants representing diverse stakeholders in Cambodia’s AI ecosystem, aiming to validate previous inputs and gather additional feedback to further refine the Draft National AI Strategy. The 15 groups actively discussed three major themes: AI for economic development, AI for social development, and AI for digital government. After conducting the group discussions, presentations, and a plenary discussion, the workshop concluded successfully with active participation from all relevant stakeholders, including ministries and institutions, international experts, the private sector, academic and research institutions, civil society organizations, development partners, professionals, and students.

During the closing ceremony, H.E. Secretary of State Keo Sothie emphasized that the “National AI Strategy” will serve as the national vision and strategy that benefit all citizens, including ministries and institutions, the private sector, academic and research institutions, civil society organizations, and the public. He stated that AI is not merely a technology to be developed and considered in the future; it is a technology that must be developed and deliberately addressed today. At the end of his closing remarks, H.E. Secretary of State Keo Sothie expressed his profound gratitude to all the distinguished guests who dedicated their valuable time to participate in this national workshop. All of the contributions help promote the “National AI Strategy” as a common strategy that sets direction for the adoption of AI technology and strengthens its governance, in line with Cambodia’s digital economy and society transformation.
