Plug and Play is proud to announce its first-ever investment in a Cambodian digital startup, marking a significant milestone for the country’s growing digital economy. The firm’s first investment in Cambodia is in Bamnang Holdings Pte. Ltd., a mobile application for students designed to help them find suitable accommodation while connecting them with educational opportunities such as mentorship and artificial intelligence systems that assist students in selecting academic majors, universities, scholarships, and career pathways—all within the Bamnang app, to foster knowledge development among students, who represent a key pillar of Cambodia’s future growth.

The Plug and Play Cambodia technology center was launched in 2025 through collaboration with the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and the AUPP Technology Center. Globally recognized as one of the most active venture capital firms, Plug and Play currently operates in Cambodia to deliver startup acceleration programs, support potential digital startups in expanding into international markets, and create investment opportunities—key drivers of Cambodia’s growing digital startup ecosystem and broader innovation landscape.

The first cohort of the Startup Accelerator Program selected ten digital startups across sectors such as software-as-a-service (SaaS), artificial intelligence, logistics, education, finance, agriculture, real estate, and pharmaceuticals. Among them, Bamnang stood out as a high-potential startup capable of addressing critical challenges faced by Cambodian youth.

According to Jupe Tan, Managing Director of Plug and Play APAC, “Plug and Play seeks startups that create impactful solutions at both local and regional levels. Bamnang has clearly demonstrated this through its digital platform (Bamnang App) and the team’s vision to empower students to strengthen themself. This investment represents a major step forward and reflects the growing quality of founders emerging from Cambodia’s innovation ecosystem.” This investment marks a turning point for Bamnang to evolve from solving local challenges to competing on a regional scale. Through Plug and Play’s network in Silicon Valley and its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore, Bamnang will benefit from international market access, regulatory insights, and connections to global investors.

Ms. Seng Rothsethamony, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Bamnang, stated that “Becoming the first Cambodian startup to receive support from Plug and Play is not only a major achievement for our team, but also reflects that Cambodian startups can step onto the global stage. We look forward to welcoming more long-term partners to help expand our accommodation services, advisory support, and AI-powered tool that supports students in choosing majors, universities, scholarships, and career paths across the Asia-Pacific region. On this occasion, Bamnang also expressed deep appreciation to H.E. Minister Chea Vandeth for his vision and continued support for Cambodia’s startup ecosystem.” Beyond financial support, Bamnang has also been integrated into Plug and Play’s global ecosystem, which has previously invested in well-known unicorn companies such as Dropbox, PayPal, and Rappi.

Looking ahead, Bamnang envisions further strengthening its digital platform, Bamnang App, by integrating advanced technologies, including AI-powered academic progress tracking, intelligent advisory matching, and personalized learning recommendations tailored to individual students. These features are designed to reduce the gap in educational opportunities between urban and rural areas by improving access to housing, educational resources, and employment networks for students both in Phnom Penh and across other provinces of Cambodia.
