Hanoi—From 15 to 16 January 2026, His Excellency Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, led the ministry delegation to attend the 6th ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting (ADGMIN) in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, which was attended by ASEAN Digital Ministers as well as ASEAN Dialogue Partners, including the Republic of Korea, China, Japan, India, the United States of America, and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The meeting reviewed the progress of cooperation among ASEAN Member States, as well as between member states and partners, that was implemented in 2025 and the 2026 plans. In particular, this year’s meeting examined the implementation report of the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2025 and officially approved and launched the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2030, which will become the key guiding document for regional digital cooperation over the next five years.

During the meeting, H.E. Minister held bilateral meetings with counterparts from Malaysia, Japan, Vietnam, Timor-Leste, and Lao PDR, as well as with representatives from the private sector, including a visit to the headquarters of the Viettel Group.

Furthermore, H.E. Minister Chea Vandeth signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Digital Government Cooperation with H.E. Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital of Malaysia, as well as minutes of a joint meeting with H.E. Hayashi Yoshimasa, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan, which aim to strengthen bilateral cooperation with both partners in fostering digital sector development—particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence, fifth-generation mobile operation (5G), blockchain, cloud, and digital government.

On this occasion, H.E. Minister also had the honor to present the ASEAN Digital Award in the Public Service category, in which Cambodia’s Digital Social Protection Platform was awarded the Gold Medal this year—marking a proud achievement in the digital government transformation in Cambodia.

It is worth noting that the ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting is the largest annual digital-sector meeting in the ASEAN region, bringing together digital ministries from all ASEAN Member States and dialogue partners to discuss developments and cooperation in the digital sector.
