Phnom Penh: On the morning of March 11, 2026, His Excellency Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC), delivered keynote remarks at the opening ceremony of the 12th Asia-Pacific Spectrum Management Conference.

The conference, jointly organized by the Telecommunications Regulator of Cambodia (TRC) and Forum Global, was attended by Mr. Masanori Kondo, Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT); Mrs. Atsuko Okuda, Regional Director of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific; Managing Director of Forum Global; leaders and officials from the MPTC and TRC; as well as regulators, policymakers, and experts from 29 countries across the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, and North America and representatives from the national and international private sector—bringing together approximately 250 at Shangri-La Phnom Penh.

In his remarks, H.E. Minister emphasized that the radio frequency spectrum is a valuable national resource that serves as a fundamental foundation for expanding mobile network coverage and advancing Cambodia’s digital transformation. Therefore, setting clear policy directions for the management and allocation of radio spectrum resources is essential for Cambodia to set clear rules for the development of wireless technologies, ensure efficient spectrum utilization, and promote transparent competition.

Furthermore, H.E. Minister highlighted that Cambodia officially launched its fifth-generation mobile network services (5G) on January 1, 2026, with 767 sites deployed at the time of launch. As of March 5, 2026, the number of 5G sites has increased to 1,592 nationwide.
