HE Khov Makara, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, led a delegation of 12 new Cambodian digital businesses and brought two digital government technology services to the FRANCOTECH Innovation Fair 2024, held on 3-4 October 2024 at STATION F in Paris as the side event of the 19th Francophone Summit, presided over by His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic.
The event brought together key figures from French-speaking countries, about 1,500 business representatives, 100 government representatives, and 150 exhibitors from various countries, provinces, and enterprises. The 12 new digital businesses selected to represent Cambodia’s innovative ecosystem include Tenbox (a digital startup competing in the FrancoTech Innovation Competition), Sala, PillTech, Morakot Technology, Poscar Digital, ArrowDot, CamMob, BiKay, Confluence, Sourceamax Asia, Quantum-Engineering & Manufacturing, and Immersive Angkor. In addition, the National Bank of Cambodia and the MPTC also participated in this innovation fair to showcase Cambodia’s digital government products, including “verify.gov.kh” and “Bakong”.
On this occasion, H.E. Khov Makara also participated as a speaker in the roundtable on “Artificial Intelligence Technology: Economic and Cultural Sovereignty” and H.E. Seng Sopheap, President of the Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology participated as a speaker in the roundtable on “Educational Technology and Human Resources: The Value of Public-Private Partnerships for a Global Response to Education through Digital Technology and Digital Access in the French-Speaking Community”. HE Yim Lat, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia participated as a speaker in a panel discussion on “Financial Sustainability: A Responsible and Innovative Strategy of Francophone Economic Actors”.
FRANCOTECH Innovation Fair is a major event aiming to promote the potential of digital startup ecosystem, focusing on five key topics through panel discussions, seminars, business matching, and exhibitions. The five focus topics include artificial intelligence, energy transition, human capital, logistics and food security, and financing of innovation. Our digital startups showcased the potential of our youth and education tied to the French-speaking community. In addition, the Cambodian delegation held a special workshop on “Investing in Cambodia” to provide additional information on the policy framework for attracting investment and highlighting Cambodia as a strategic location to enter ASEAN’s emerging markets.
