Geneva— During the World Summit on the Information Society—WSIS +20 High-Level Event 2025, His Excellency Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, shared Cambodia’s experiences in strengthening and expanding digital connectivity and digital literacy to build an inclusive digital economy and society for all citizens. During the Leaders TalkX under the theme “Accelerating Global Access to Information and Knowledge in the Digital Era,” which was attended by six ministers and deputy ministers responsible for digital affairs, H.E. Minister highlighted reforms in the telecommunications sector and investments in Cambodia’s digital ecosystem—especially in digital connectivity and digital human capital—which are key priorities to enhancing access to information and knowledge in the digital age. Furthermore, he outlined Cambodia’s policies to develop an inclusive digital sector, notably through initiatives such as the Community Tech Center and the Techo Digital Talent Scholarship, which provide opportunities for citizens—especially youth from across Cambodia—to actively participate in the nation’s digital transformation journey.
As part of the summit, H.E. Minister also participated in the ministerial roundtable, which brought together ministers, deputy ministers, and senior officials from over 50 countries, along with the secretary-general and top management of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), to discuss and share key developments in digital transformation across Cambodia’s economy and society. In addition to the development in digital connectivity and digital human capital, Cambodia has made significant advancements in technology through the success of verify.gov.kh, a cutting-edge, secure, and efficient digital verification platform that has gained both regional and international recognition. Furthermore, Cambodia has been drafting a National Artificial Intelligence Strategy with extensive engagement from all stakeholders.
It is worth noting that the World Summit on the Information Society—WSIS +20 High-Level Event 2025 and the AI for Good Global Summit 2025 took place from July 7 to 11, 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland.
