Geneva— His Excellency Chun Vat, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, led the delegation to participate in the “20th World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Symposium (WTIS-25)”, the “16th Meeting of the Expert Group on Telecommunication/ICT Indicators (EGTI)”, and the “13th Meeting of the Expert Group on ICT Household Indicators (EGH)”, held from September 22–26, 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland.

The WTIS-25 Symposium was organized as a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences, with a primary focus on statistics and indicators in the telecommunication and ICT sectors. Under the theme “The Past, Present, and Future of Digital Development Statistics,” the symposium reflected nearly three decades of progress since the first inaugural event in 1996. It also underscored current priorities and the growing demand for new data to support digital development, particularly in the fields of data and policy formulation.

Meanwhile, the “16th Meeting of the Expert Group on Telecommunication/ICT Indicators (EGTI)” and the “13th Meeting of the Expert Group on ICT Household Indicators (EGH)” were organized to review the progress of their respective sub-working groups and finalize topics that they have studied. The key activities for 2025 included the EGH sub-working group’s efforts to measure AI usage through household surveys, the EGTI sub-working group’s work on national indicators for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions, and joint activities of the EGTI and EGH working groups on the ICT Development Index and other subjects. In addition, the meetings provided a platform for exchanging experiences and sharing best practices in data collection as well as addressing challenges and practical solutions to the development process of these indicators.
