Tokyo: While attending the 2nd Meeting of the Hiroshima AI Process Friends Group on March 15–16, 2026, His Excellency Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, conducted a working visit to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). The visit aimed to gain insights into the development and application of space technologies, particularly satellites, which is a rapidly evolving frontier in the telecommunications and digital sector.

During the visit, H.E. Minister also held meetings with three Japanese companies: Nippon Koei, Magna Wireless, and NextMake. Nippon Koei is responsible for developing the master plan for the Digital Park project under the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications. This company has maintained a long-standing relationship with Cambodia and was awarded a royal decoration as early as 1958 for its contributions to the development of waterways and railways in the country. Meanwhile, Magna Wireless is a manufacturer of telecommunications equipment, including low-latency 5G technologies, semiconductors, and chipsets. The meeting with Magna Wireless is to explore the possibility of establishing its operations within Cambodia’s Digital Park. On the other hand, the meeting with NextMake focused on discussing the facilitation of the transition of the first cohort of digitally skilled Cambodian students with Japanese language proficiency to work in Japan under the IT Pathway program, supported by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications.

This visit forms part of strengthening the growing digital partnership between Cambodia and Japan by exploring the development and use of space technology, digital investment, telecommunications, digital human capital development, and digital infrastructure.
