Phnom Penh, 19 October 2026 – H.E. Hak Sok Heng, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC), representing H.E. Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, presided over the announcement of the winners of the architectural design competition for the National AI and Data Science Research Center at the Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology (CADT). The event brought together approximately 130 participants, including the Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Cambodia, the President of CADT, members of the jury, faculty members, and students.

The competition was jointly initiated by MPTC, CADT and AFD to nurture young Cambodian architectural talent and provide a platform for students to showcase their creativity and technical capabilities. Participants were invited to develop innovative and sustainable architectural designs for the proposed National AI and Data Science Research Center.
The establishment of the Center is a key priority for MPTC as part of Cambodia’s efforts to build a strong national artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem. By developing essential research and technological infrastructure, the Center is intended to support AI research and development, accelerate AI adoption, and advance the application of data science in Cambodia.
Following the competition, the team from the Royal University of Fine Arts won first place, followed by Norton University in second place and CamTech University in third place.
As an additional opportunity to recognize and promote outstanding student work, the winning team’s architectural model (maquette) will be exhibited at the upcoming FrancoTech event in November 2026.
