Paris: On September 9–10, 2026, at the invitation of His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, designated His Excellency Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, as a high representative at the International Space Summit in Paris, the French Republic. The summit was co-organized by the French Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany, with the participation of heads of state, heads of government, ministers in charge of space sectors, and representatives from over 90 countries, as well as international organizations and the private sector—bringing together over 2,000 participants.
This is the first space summit aimed at bringing together relevant nations to jointly declare a noble aspiration to use outer space for peaceful and sustainable purposes in the context of space competition in pursuit of the economic and strategic objectives of various nations worldwide. During the summit, Cambodia endorsed three declarations initiated by the French Republic.
On this occasion, H.E. Minister held separate courtesy meetings with H.E. Philippe Baptiste, France’s Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Space, and H.E. Eléonore Caroit, Minister Delegate for Francophonie, International Partnerships, and French Nationals Abroad. H.E. Minister Chea Vandeth and Mr. Philippe Baptiste discussed possibilities for technical cooperation and human resource development in satellite and space technology, with the French side expressing gratitude for Cambodia’s support of the three declarations. Meanwhile, in the courtesy meeting with H.E. Eléonore Caroit, both sides held an in-depth discussion on the possibility of expanding Cambodia-France cooperation in artificial intelligence, space, cybersecurity, quantum technology, and semiconductors.
Following the summit, H.E. Minister will continue to lead a delegation on a visit to space institutions and companies in Toulouse, a major space hub in France and Europe.
