Phnom Penh: On 13–14 November 2025, the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC) organized a training workshop on “Establishing a Personal Data Protection Authority” at the Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia (TRC), with the participation of leaders and officials from MPTC, the Secretariat General of the Digital Government Committee, and TRC — totaling around 60 participants.

The objective of the workshop was to understand the experiences of Singapore, shared by representatives from Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC), focusing on key topics including:

(1) models for establishing a personal data protection authority;

(2) mechanisms for effective administrative management and enforcement of personal data protection laws; and

(3) strategies for building a comprehensive personal data protection ecosystem.

These practical insights will serve as an important foundation for establishing Cambodia’s personal data protection authority.

This training workshop reflects MPTC’s strong commitment to developing the legal and institutional frameworks related to personal data protection as part of Cambodia’s broader digital transformation efforts.
