Phnom Penh: On June 9, 2026, His Excellency Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, delivered keynote remarks at the official launch ceremony of the “Metfone Express” courier service under the high presidency of His Excellency Hun Many, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Civil Service, and Deputy Chair of the Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodia Motherland. The ceremony was also attended by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau, Deputy Minister of National Defence of Vietnam, management and staff of Viettel (Cambodia); as well as numerous national and international guests.

Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Minister stated that as digital commerce continues to grow steadily, efficient logistics and trusted digital services are vital in facilitating the movement of goods across borders. In this regard, today’s official launch ceremony of Metfone Express contributes to the broader vision of enhancing regional connectivity, strengthening economic integration, and creating new opportunities for businesses and consumers on both sides of the border.

H.E. Minister emphasized the necessity of three critical networks for the success of digital commerce, such as (1) information networks that are powered by telecommunications and internet systems; (2) financial networks driven by digital payment systems and financial technology (FinTech); and (3) logistics networks that are sustained by postal and freight transportation services.

In conclusion, H.E. Minister encouraged Metfone Express to leverage modern technologies—such as real-time tracking systems, data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and smart logistics solutions—to enhance service quality, reliability, and efficiency. He also urged the company to continue expanding its service coverage to rural and remote areas to ensure that all citizens have access to convenient and affordable express delivery services.
