Phnom Penh: Following the high recommendations of His Excellency Minister Chea Vandeth on June 11, 2026, during the closing ceremony of the AI training for ministry leadership and officials, instructions were given to organize a capacity-building training on digital skills and artificial intelligence to boost productivity and work efficiency across Cambodia’s digital journalism sector.
On July 28, 2026, the Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology (CADT), in collaboration with the Club of Cambodian Journalists (CCJ), hosted a training on “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Digital Journalism in Cambodia” for around 143 members of CCJ from 82 media outlets and was presided over by His Excellency Hak Sok Heng, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, alongside trainers and officials from CADT.
The training aimed to provide capacity-building training to members of CCJ on digital skills and AI usage to help them boost productivity and work efficiency in Cambodia’s digital journalism sector.
In addition, H.E. Secretary of State stated that the training was carefully tailored to focus on the ethical use of AI and maximizing its potential to improve work efficiency, including content creation, news writing, editing, and generating images, audio, and short videos for richer and faster production. Participants also learned how to leverage AI for data search and analysis, as well as use digital tools to detect fake news or photos/videos in response to rapid technological shifts, particularly in the digital journalism sector.
H.E. Secretary of State added that the knowledge and skills gained from the training will serve as valuable assets that allow journalists to apply them directly within their organizations to boost speed and work efficiency as well as contribute to digital transformation. He also encouraged CADT to continue strengthening its partnership with the CCJ and relevant institutions to offer new and advanced digital skills training, thereby ensuring that local journalists remain well-equipped and skillful.
