Ministry of Post and Telecommunications Collaborates with ODC to Organize Workshops on “Promoting Online Safety for Children” in Kampong Thom and Preah Vihear Province

To respond to rapid digital development and protect Cambodian children and youth from online risks, the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC) collaborated with Open Development Cambodia (ODC) and other development partners to organize knowledge-sharing workshops on “Promoting Online Safety for Children” at the Cambodian University for Specialties (CUS) in Kampong Thom on August 23, 2026, and Preah Puth Meanchey Pagoda in Preah Vihear on August 25, 2026, bringing together approximately 237 participants, including teachers and students.

The workshop focused on three main objectives: 1) Exploring Opportunities and Risks: Understanding the benefits of the internet for education, privacy settings, and awareness of online threats; 2) Strengthening Self-Protection Skills: Providing technical training to protect oneself against scams and various forms of digital exploitation; 3) Promoting Digital Ethics: Encouraging responsible social media use to help participants become “model digital citizens.”

These workshops enhanced the “digital resilience” of all attendees by helping them learn to balance their social media habits and how to seek help from parents, teachers, or authorities when encountering online safety issues. This initiative highlights the strong commitment of the government and development partners to building a safe, inclusive, and trusted digital environment for all Cambodian children and youth!
