Preah Sihanouk Province: On June 26, 2026, Mr. Uk Vandy, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Information and Communication Technology at the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, and Mr. Min Kompheak, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, presided over a training on “Mastering Cybersecurity Hygiene and Online Scam Prevention” at New Beach Hotel. The training was attended by approximately 60 officials and staff from local provincial departments, administrations, and Preah Sihanouk Provincial Gendarmerie.
The training was organized to enhance awareness and promote cybersecurity hygiene practices among participants in order to build safe digital habits; reduce the risks of cybercrime and online scams; and strengthen capabilities to protect both personal and critical institutional information. Additionally, the training encouraged participants to share this knowledge and establish a cybersecurity culture within their respective organizations.
Furthermore, the workshop focused on establishing good online habits and setting up security for digital accounts and devices by creating strong passwords, using two-factor authentication (2FA), setting up security on Telegram accounts, safely using public Wi-Fi, and protecting mobile banking apps. Participants also learned about common tactics used by scammers—such as phishing, impersonation, pig butchering/romance scams, and AI-driven deepfakes—along with self-protection measures and basic incident response.
*It is worth noting that this training was organized under the Cybersecurity Resilience Improvement Project of the Kingdom of Cambodia, which receives technical assistance and support from the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Cambodia. It is part of ongoing efforts to raise cybersecurity awareness and build a digital safety culture within government ministries and institutions and local administrations, contributing to a secure and trusted digital society.
