Minister Chea Vandeth Attends WSIS Forum and AI for Good Global Summit and Meets with Representatives from Participating Countries

Geneva: On July 8 and 9, 2026, representatives from various countries and international organizations continued to gather for the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2026 and the AI for Good Global Summit. Through these events, participating nations and responsible institutions continued to foster digital connectivity and sectoral digital transformation as well as collaboratively implement new key initiatives, including artificial intelligence and data governance, aligned with the resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly in December 2025.

His Excellency Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, attended the opening ceremony alongside Heads of State, Heads of Government, Ministers, and international delegates as well as international organizations. He also participated in a Closed-Door Ministerial Roundtable and spoke at the “Leaders’ Talk” panel on digital transformation. During these sessions, H.E. Minister shared Cambodia’s experience in leveraging Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to accelerate digital transformation. While pioneering countries took 20 to 30 years to achieve mixed results, the DG SuperApp and verify.gov.kh platforms serve as technological enablers and shared assets that assist ministries and institutions and the private sector in digitalizing their services rapidly and securely. This approach not only makes public services highly accessible but also reduces the digital transformation timeline to just about 5 years with a high success rate.

Furthermore, H.E. Minister held bilateral meetings with several digital ministers, including (1) H.E. Minister Raafat Hendy of Egypt and the rotating chair of the 2026 WSIS Forum; (2) H.E. Minister Liisa-Ly Pakosta of Estonia; (3) H.E. Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja of Pakistan; (4) H.E. Minister Paula Ingabire of Rwanda; (5) H.E. Minister Joseph Pierre-Louis of Haiti; and (6) H.E. Minister Amal Seghrouchni of Morocco. H.E. Minister and his counterparts exchanged insights in a cordial manner and explored possibilities to support each other’s digital transformation journeys. In addition, H.E. Minister also invited counterparts who are members of the International Organisation of La Francophonie to attend the upcoming Francotech event in Cambodia this November. Finally, H.E. Minister met with Ms. Ingrid Hoven, Managing Director of GIZ, to discuss potential future collaboration.
